Letters from Little Edie Beale is a sequel to my first book memoraBEALEia:  A Private Scrapbook About Little Edie Beale of Grey Gardens.


This book contains transcripts of the most engaging and entertaining letters written to me by Edie Beale from 1976-1987 and from 2000 up until a few months before Edie’s death in 2002.  She wrote me approximately 80 letters during her lifetime.


I was inspired to compile the collection of letters from Little Edie in this book by Barry Qualls, a Vice President and Professor of English at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  I first became acquainted with Barry when I was a freshman at Rutgers in 1976; I was a student in his class.


Professor Qualls is a fan of the Broadway musical Grey Gardens, and read memoraBEALEia.  I was very happy that he liked the book, but like many other readers and Grey Gardens fans, he wanted more.
